The psalmist made a bold statement about his stand for justice and righteousness. He also asked God for many things, including safety, freedom from oppressors, mercy, understanding, and the grace to know God’s statutes (Word). Paying full attention to God’s Word is important, because obeying It makes life easier. The psalmist loved God’s Word and declared that he cherished it above the finest gold.
