‘Refresh’ is an outreach project targeted at people termed as rough sleepers, with no place of abode, and the homeless; where they can come to Gateway House and to be provided with a warm shower and a toilet facility, which will also be available to them. The Refresh Ministry is one of the things God laid on Pastor Kola’s heart for reaching out beyond the four walls of New Wine Church.
There are plans to have a ministry around this so that we as a church, would be able to minister to them in an unconventional yet subtle way.
For the launch on Saturday 10th December, dignitaries from the community were invited, and Councillor Ayodele Joshua cut the ribbon to officially open the ‘Refresh’ ministry.
This initiative was launched on Saturday 10th December 2022, and will be opened on Saturday 21st January 2023!
Bathroom services will initially open every Saturday from 10am-12pm, with each user proposed to be given a maximum of 20 minutes for use. This will ensure that at least six people will use the facility a day.
It is expected that the users clean after themselves and dispose of anything they no longer want in the bag provided. They are also expected to leave the facility in good condition for those coming after them.
This initiative will be taking place in Gateway House, and volunteers will be needed for this initiative.
