FAMILY PRAYER VIGIL GUIDE

Date: FRIDAY, 12th to SATURDAY, 13th of JULY 2024
Time: 11:00 PM (Friday) to 5:00 AM (Saturday)

OBJECTIVE: Address family issues in prayer leading to spiritual renewal, spiritual empowerment, and spiritual growth.

11:00 PM - 11:30 PM: Opening and Worship
• Welcome and Introduction: Briefly outline the objectives and structure of the vigil.
• Opening Prayer: Seek God’s presence and guidance for the vigil.
• Worship: Engage in a time of worship with songs focused on inviting the Holy Spirit and exalting God.


11:30 PM - 12:30 AM: Repentance and Cleansing
Scripture Reading: Psalm 51:1-12, 1 John 1:9
Prayer Focus:
• Individual Confession: Encourage each family member to reflect and silently confess their sins.
• Family Confession: As a family, acknowledge collective shortcomings and seek God’s forgiveness.
• Prayer of Cleansing: Ask for the blood of Jesus to cleanse and purify each heart and home.


12:30 AM - 1:30 AM: Spiritual Renewal
Scripture Reading: Isaiah 40:28-31, Romans 12:1-2
Prayer Focus:
• Pray for a renewed mind and spirit.
• Ask for a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
• Pray for a rekindling of the first love for God.
• Reflection: Spend a few moments in silence, allowing the Holy Spirit to speak to each heart.


1:30 AM - 2:30 AM: Spiritual Empowerment
• Scripture Reading: Acts 1:8, Ephesians 6:10-18
Prayer Focus:
• Pray for the empowerment to live a victorious Christian life.
• Ask for boldness to witness and share the gospel.
• Pray for the gifts of the Holy Spirit to be manifested in the family.
• Declarations: Make bold declarations of faith and empowerment over each family member.


2:30 AM - 3:00 AM: Break and Reflection
• Light Refreshments: If needed, take a short break for light refreshments and fellowship.
• Reflection Time: Reflect on what God has been speaking to each person.


3:00 AM - 4:00 AM: Spiritual Growth
• Scripture Reading: 2 Peter 3:18, Colossians 1:9-12
Prayer Focus:
• Pray for growth in the knowledge of God’s Word.
• Ask for deeper understanding and revelation.
• Pray for consistency in personal and family devotions.
• Pray for growth in love, faith, and unity within the family.
• Discussion: Share insights and revelations from the Scripture readings.


4:00 AM - 4:30 AM: Intercession for Family Needs
Scripture Reading: Philippians 4:6-7, Matthew 7:7-11
Prayer Focus:
• Intercede for specific family needs and challenges.
• Pray for healing, provision, and breakthrough.
• Pray for protection and God’s guidance in decision-making.
• Anointing: Anoint each family member with oil, praying for God’s blessings and protection.

4:30 AM - 5:00 AM: Thanksgiving and Closing
• Thanksgiving Prayer: Offer prayers of thanksgiving for God’s faithfulness and answers to prayers.
• Worship: Conclude with a time of worship, celebrating God’s goodness.
• Benediction: Pronounce a blessing over the family and commit the day to the Lord.
• Closing Song: Sing a song of victory and faith.

Additional Tips:
• Ensure a comfortable and focused environment free from distractions.
• Provide prayer guides or booklets with relevant scriptures and prayer points.
• Encourage participation from all family members, including children, with age-appropriate activities and prayers.
• Consider creating a prayer altar or special spot for the vigil, symbolizing the family’s dedication to seeking God.
